Caersws 1 x 0 Gap Connah's QuayAbandoned at half-time, pitch waterlogged
After going behind to a 24th minute Mark Griffiths goal, Nomads' blushes were spared at bottom club Caersws when ref Andy Harms abandoned the game at half time with the sodden Recreation Ground pitch unsafe for further play. Now in 16th place and five points adrift of the qualifying places, results in the next three matches at Bangor, at home to Newtown and at Porthmadog will determine whether Nomads go into the new year with a reasonable prospect of a top twelve finish.
At worst, they might otherwise be bottom of the league by Christmas. With the club still in strong contention for success in the Welsh Cup, the season is still wide open and there is plenty to play for.
It has been reported that a new gap Connah's Quay FC official website is to be launched this week, the third such attempt that the club has made since the Gap takeover and the new site will be linked from here following its launch. This site, now in its tenth continuous year, will continue to publish independent first hand match reports whenever available. Though run voluntarily, without sponsorship and with no official sanction ever sought nor offered, this remains the closest continuous link between the club and its fans through some times of great change.
The independent voice of aryblæn / nomadsfc.co.uk has not always sung in harmony with official overtures but the 'editorial line' has consistently been in support of Connah's Quay Nomads and what that name represents to the local football supporters who turn up to cheer on the team.
As ever, contributions from other supporters are welcome, contact details are linked at the foot of this page. A resumption of full multimedia enhancement (photographs and some moving images) is anticipated in early 2010. |
